Specifications can change between cycles, so open the notification for the post you are applying to and compare before you upload. KBSnap is an independent tool and is not affiliated with IBPS or SBI.
How to resize your signature for an IBPS or SBI form
- Sign on plain white, unlined paper with a black ballpoint or gel pen. Sign at your normal size, the way you will sign at the exam: the uploaded signature is printed on your call letter and compared later.
- Photograph it in daylight with the phone held flat above the paper, so there is no tilt and no shadow from your hand or phone. Fill a good part of the frame with the signature.
- Add the photo on this page. Auto-crop trims the empty paper and background cleanup turns the paper white. If thin strokes disappear, lower the clean-up strength; if grey patches remain, raise it.
- Leave the size at 140 × 60 px and the range at 10–20 KB, with JPG selected. The preview shows the exact file size in KB and bytes.
- Download and upload the JPG in the signature field of the form, then check the preview there before you continue.
No printer or scanner is needed: a phone photo works. The Draw option exists too, but bank notifications ask for a signature made with a black pen on white paper, so the paper method is the safer choice here.
Why a 10 KB minimum causes trouble
Most portals only cap the maximum, but IBPS and SBI give a range, and the lower limit is the one that catches people out. A 140 × 60 px image holds just 8,400 pixels. When the background is clean white, that compresses to a file of only a few kilobytes, well under the 10 KB floor.
Making the picture blurrier or noisier to add bulk would make the signature worse. Instead, when the file comes out below your minimum, KBSnap adds padding data inside the file until it passes 10 KB. The pixels and the signature stay exactly the same; only the file size changes.
It also helps to land inside the range rather than right at an edge. Some systems count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024 bytes, so a file of exactly 20 KB can be read differently. The preset’s minimum and maximum already keep the file between the two limits.
What gets a signature rejected or a candidate disqualified
The IBPS and SBI notifications are strict about signatures, and some of these problems only show up after the exam:
- A mismatch at the exam. If your signature on the attendance sheet or call letter at the exam does not match the uploaded signature, the notifications say you will be disqualified.
- Capital letters. A signature written in CAPITAL LETTERS is not accepted.
- An unclear or smudged image. IBPS states that the application form shall be rejected if the signature is unclear or smudged.
- Someone else’s signature. The signature, thumb impression and declaration must all be the applicant’s own.
- The wrong field. A signature uploaded in the photo field, or a photo in the signature field, means you will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
The simplest protection is consistency: sign the same way on the paper you photograph, on the call letter and on every later document.
Getting a crisp signature at 140 × 60 pixels
140 × 60 px is small, so a few habits make a visible difference:
- Use a pen with a firm, dark line. A fine, faint line can break up when it is shrunk to 60 pixels high. A medium black gel pen holds up best.
- Sign horizontally. The space is wide and short, so a signature that slopes steeply upward ends up small inside it.
- Keep the margin small. Auto-crop leaves a small border so the signature fills the space. If it looks lost in white space, lower the margin.
- Choose Black ink if your strokes look grey. It turns the pen strokes solid black after cleanup, which reads better at small sizes. Sign with a black pen in the first place, as the notifications ask.
The rest of your IBPS or SBI uploads
The same form asks for three more images and, for IBPS, a PDF:
- Photograph: 200 × 230 px, 20–50 KB JPG. Use the IBPS and SBI photo resizer.
- Handwritten declaration: 800 × 400 px at 200 DPI, 50–100 KB JPG, in English and not in capitals. Use the handwritten declaration page.
- Left thumb impression: 240 × 240 px at 200 DPI (about 3 × 3 cm), 20–50 KB JPG, in black or blue ink on white paper. A right thumb can be used if there is no left thumb.
- 10th standard certificate (IBPS): an A4 PDF up to 500 KB. Compress PDF to 500KB helps if your scan is too large.
